Are you passionate about turning complex customer needs into smart, efficient control system solutions? We're looking for a talented and driven Applications Engineer to be the bridge between customer vision and technical execution. In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring customer satisfaction while helping minimize development costs by translating application requirements into innovative control system designs.

You'll collaborate closely with our development team to bring these designs to life, and serve as a trusted resource for customers—guiding them through the application of HED products and systems with expertise and enthusiasm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Systems Integration:

  • Expert knowledge of the design, development and implementation of mobile vehicle electronic control systems
  • Expert experience and ability to mentor co-workers in System Development Process (SDP)
  • Experience and ability to guide and lead potential and existing customers through the requirements gathering and system design process
  • Develop customer application software
  • Testing customer application software (bench testing and on vehicle testing)

    Project Lead / Commissioning:

  • Monitor and report project status to all stakeholders
  • Formalize customer specifications into a contractual type format for customer approval and authorized signature
  • Track project status through HED® SPD processes to assure proper requirement specification, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Commission and test HED® systems on vehicles at customer location

    Field Service / Troubleshooting:

  • Travel to customer locations to design, implement, troubleshoot and / or repair HED based control systems
  • Guide/mentor customers and co-workers through proper system troubleshooting methodologies

    Customer Interaction / Sales Support

  • Support the HED® Sale Team on customer visits and sales calls
  • Monitor and address customer issues through the Technical Support system
  • Provide product and system training to customers and channel partners
  • Develop demo projects for sales calls and Trade Shows

Minimum Qualifications

    Education

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

    Experience and/or Training

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in electronic control system programming and integration
  • Familiarity with embedded software development
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with customers in a customer service role
  • Customer empathy / customer advocate mentality
  • Strong leadership qualities and a demonstrated capability to influence others and excel in a matrix environment is a must
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

    Technology/Equipment

  • Proficient in C, C++, and Python programming; Experience with Git; Experience with Unit Testing, preferably GoogleTest

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or small packages. Working Environment

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
